Employing the inspiring nautical retreat setting of a large yacht on Pacific Northwest waters to promote emotional healing and renewal for leaders. Our goal is to “Refresh Souls on Living Waters”.
The weight of leadership and ministry can take its toll on emotional health.
Here are a few surprising statistics about church leaders/pastors.
1,500 pastors leave their ministries each month! The care of clergy and those working in full-time ministry is of utmost importance to ensure that the Christian church remains healthy and that the spread of the gospel continues around the world.
“Members of the clergy now suffer from obesity, hypertension and depression at rates higher than most Americans. In the last decade, their use of antidepressants has risen, while their life expectancy has fallen. Many would change jobs if they could.”
New York Times (August 1st 2010)
Bill Hybels says, “Everyone wins when a leader gets better.”
We have observed what can happen when leaders don’t heal! Ministers leave church and faith in God, ex-pastors working at Home Depot, bitter missionaries home from the field, broken marriages and families, not to mention the collateral damage to a congregation and damage to the gospel message in a community.
On the bright side, we have had the privilege of being intimately involved in success stories where the pastor didn’t burn out and is actually thriving and increasingly fruitful! The missionary didn’t quit in bitterness and leave the field but his harvest is increasing! Broken ministers restored and returned to fulfilling service!
God is eager and able to transform lives, and we are prepared and willing. Will you invest with us in restoring lives? Jesus said to His weary leadership team, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.” (Mark 6: 31,32)
