GET INSIDE HIS HEAD

(A Key to The Mind of Christ)

What if you could truly see the world—not through your own eyes, but through the mind of Christ? Imagine understanding life’s challenges, fears, and decisions from a Divine perspective that brings courage and clarity - beyond your natural instincts! This isn’t just a hopeful idea—it’s a promise within reach, but it comes with a powerful challenge: are you ready to let go of your own way of thinking to embrace a radically different reality?

The old expression “get inside their head” means to deeply understand what someone else is thinking or feeling—to comprehend their motivations, concerns, and overall mindset. I have prayed, “Lord, please may I see like Jesus sees and think like He thinks.” Be careful what you ask for!

Scripture says we have the mind of Christ. But have you noticed—as I have—that our thinking often differs from His, especially when compared with what scripture reveals? Oh man! I didn’t fully think through what I was asking for! To think like Him, my way of thinking must first be exposed. Then I must choose to lay it down and fully receive His truth.

In order to be agents of light and salt in the great and glorious days ahead (Acts 2), we’ll need the mind of Christ. But first we must choose to relinquish what the Bible calls “the crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism” (Colossians 2:20 Amp)—basically, our common sense.

Jesus teaches us plainly: “Learn this well, unless you dramatically change your way of thinking…and embrace the kingdom-realm of heaven with the wide-eyed wonder of a child, you will not be able to enter in” (Matthew 18:2, The Passion Translation).

Consider the example of the ten spies in Numbers 13 who gave the “evil report.” They were husbands, fathers, and leaders, chosen alongside Joshua and Caleb to evaluate the Promised Land. They saw giants and walled cities. They considered the facts, likely calculating their family’s chances of survival, and declared, “We are not able to go in!” They lost awareness of God’s nature and what He had said.

For these spies, choosing to set aside their common-sense judgments in order to trust God’s promises stirred deep fear—a fear that many of us also experience when called to believe beyond the evidence before us. I don’t blame them, but by God’s grace I want to submit my fear-driven thinking in favor of God’s higher truth, as Joshua and Caleb did.

The ten spies didn’t “enter in” but died wandering in the desert. The two—Joshua and Caleb—did enter the land 40 years later, and though they still faced giants and walled cities, they witnessed the victorious power of their God of promises!

What are you facing in your life where the facts scream, “You are going to perish! Be reasonable!”? What has God said, and what part of His nature does He want to reveal to you in that situation? If you are willing, God will give you grace to have His perspective and power to be courageous!

Emerging Leaders

By the time you read this we will have launched a “community group” through our church. Our church director gathered up a bunch of young adults that are hungry to grow and asking,” How do we be transformed into the likeness of Jesus? What a joy to share with these emerging leaders what we have learned over the past decades!

Testimony

Grateful to NM for the breakthroughs in my life!

"Even with the blessing of being raised in a Christian home and raising our family in church, I had picked up misperceptions and faulty beliefs that brought about self-hatred, sorrow, defeat, constant demeaning self-talk, and feelings of failure in serving God as I desired. My spiritual joy and hope usually ran on empty.

My main label was FAILURE!

As I prayed with my mentor [Neil], God revealed His truth to my heart! I cannot begin to tell you about the joy, peace, self-acceptance, and newfound freedom I have experienced! I am now more able to love and minister to my “neighbors” the love of God because His love has given me love for myself!

This morning in church a hurting friend spoke with me, and I heard her self-demeaning words mirror my words of a few months back. I prayed with her and thought, "she NEEDS what I’ve been blessed with!”
